Claudia Eckert from Fraunhofer AISEC elected president of acatech

The Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied and Integrated Security AISEC, Prof. Dr. Claudia Eckert, will succeed Jan Wörner, who has led the German National Academy of Science and Engineering acatech for four years, on July 1, 2025. She will take over from Co-President Thomas Weber.

On the social network LinkedIn, Eckert wrote about her new role: “Increasing innovative power to strengthen Germany's competitiveness is one of the key tasks for the future. Acatech plays a key role here as a link between scientific invention and economic innovation. As acatech president, I want to work to further enhance acatech's important role in the innovation system and substantially support Germany's competitiveness by actively shaping technology-driven innovation.”

Claudia Eckert is managing director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied and Integrated Security AISEC and professor at the Technical University of Munich. She conducts research into new methods and technologies for increasing the security and trustworthiness of digital, networked systems. She is also a long-standing member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and has been a member of acatech since 2010. In 2014, she became a member of the acatech Executive Committee. She is actively involved in numerous scientific boards of trustees and advisory boards, such as the Board of Trustees of the Volkswagen Foundation, the Bavarian AI Council, and the Scientific Advisory Board of the National Cyber Security Council.
