E-Government in the future will have a significant contribution globally. Local and administrative authorities will become more modernised and improve cross-border services as well as improve the competitiveness between locations. The goal is to improve public services and democratic processes. Online services are aimed primarily at citizens but also to businesses and governments. Effective e-government helps to avoid excess rules and regulations and therefore relieving bureaucratic obligations.
Challenges:
The qualitative and quantitative development of e-government needs to consistently be expanded. Electronic collaboration between business and management through process chains is the next important step in the simplification of administrative procedures for businesses. Companies and governments who want to share digital documents that are legally binding with signatures currently encounter technical and organisational obstacles. These must be overcome by standardised infrastructure and document formats. Standardised interfaces and services are a necessary prerequisite for a web of services to support e-government.
